This is quite a short introduction to the new PvP-system. The new itself system is not very complex
but we believe that it wil make PvP-battles a lot more fun. Remember that with the new PvP-system
we are also releasing the new combat gui, that is described in detail in another dev journal.
Upgradeable Tactical Locations
The new PvP-system introduces several new features to Dreamlords. The major addition is the introduction
of upgradeable tactical locations. After you have captured a tactical location, you will be able to
upgrade it, which has both defensive and offensive effects.
When you upgrade a tactical location a defensive tower will be built upon the location. The enemy will
first have to destroy this tower to be able to capture the tactical point which the tower is built upon.
Upgrading a tactical location will also let you send reinforcements directly to that location, thus
taking on some of the stronghold features used in the old system. The new system will enable you to
bring reinforcements closer to ongoing battle.
A tactical location can be upgraded in 3 stages. Each upgrade will give the tactical point a higher
tactical point income, defense and hitpoints.
Upgradeable Strongholds and hospital functionality
In the new system Strongholds can be upgraded in the same way as you would upgrade tactical locations
but can only be upgraded in 2 stages. Another noteworthy feature is that strongholds in the new system
can be used to retreat injured units/squads from the battlefield, thus taking over the functionality
from the hospitals as they will be removed from the game.
Individual tactical point pools and gains
In the old PvP-system only one tactical point pool existed, where all tactical points earned from
controlled tactical locations ended up. This is treated differently in the new system.
In the system the stronghold and any controlled (and upgraded) tactical location have there own unique
pool of tactical points and tactical point income. This means that tactical points earned for your
stronghold can only be used to upgrade that location or send reinforcements there, and not be used in
any other upgraded tactical locations.
Winning (and loosing) in the new PvP-system
You have 2 ways of winning a battle:
Gather enough victory points to reach the preset victory point limit for the map.
By actions that makes the opponent fulfill losing condition 2 (see below).
You will lose the battle when:
The opponent has gathered enough victory points to reach the preset victory point limit for the map.
You have no way of sending reinforcements into battle and no living squads on the battlefield and do not control any victory location.
Remember that this is only the first step in making PvP alot more interesting in the game.
