I guess I should have bought those 500 premium trait points earlier...

"Duration for items for which you have paid tribute for, has passed by months by now. " <- no idea wth that means , but does this mean that all the DL gear will expire now? and not be persistent through out eras? kinda lame but *shrug* guess it evens out the play field so ill live with it

as far as traits go i guess its a good idea, will just have to wait and see

What David means there is that the majority of people use free tribute now to repair gear, as their purchased tribute stock is long gone.

Also, in regards tho Shadowness' statements: Tribute was never free before and people were able to do just fine. You do NOT need an super powered DL to do PvE for sure, and in PvP most high lvl PvP-ers can easily take down a DL, thus the gear is less important.

First of all, it's just going to be a normal era change trait reset when the tree changes or when they simply want us to "re-spec" our traits. All points will be returned (except for premium ones purchased this era) and that'll be that. Any thought of "limit people from having X number of traits" is absurd, thats the complete opposite of NOT doing a reset. The whole point of the changes are to re-balance DL so the system is more fair as opposed to being absurdly lopsided to newcomers. I'm so sick of the whole "limit people for having more than me" talk, the devs have an idea on what to do so why not just give it a shot. I, nor anyone else, should be limited because we had premium and researched more than others, in fact, thats precisely why we should have an advantage. Name an MMO that penalizes people for playing harder for longer.

That was clearly out of context... and it has a meaning only for US citizens!

Wow, so true and I feel exactly the same way, having invested literally 1000s of hours of time into this game, mostly PvP admit, but still I have 320 something traits which shows that a lot of time has been invested. (Thats without ever being premium except when I did Fusion Omtras for the first time, so twice as much time spent to get to the same point as a premium player.)

Why should we be limited when we put all this time into it?: I think we should have a temporary limitation while the game grows, if the devs advertise the game and WE, the players advertise it, the game will grow, more people will try it and show their friends.

But when a new player joins the game only to be confronted by :

a) Only 50 people online at 1 time (Discouraging as the game is considered dead, I myself have tried a few games that looked awesome but only a few 100 are on and I didn't view it as worth my time, many people have similar views.)
b) Of the 50 who are online about 35-40 have played 4 eras or more (I have done a census several times about this and considered making a post when I realised, no point, useless info except an interesting fact.)

Thats bad if there are only 3 or 4 people online in a game that are in a similar predicament, sure the dreamlords community is really, really a nice place and everyone is helpful, In the Main chat as well as the German chat!

But....the new players are still at such a huge disadvantage that they would tell all their friends, the game is almost dead and it takes months to get any where, it is NOT newb friendly and I don't suggest it.

My point, if we suspend the old players superior traits or what the devs are suggesting so that all our imba gear and traits are not used strait after the re-launch, we are giving new players who come time to adjust and play at the same level as the older players and they are much, much more likely to stick around and tell their friends.

Also, new players will be a LOT more open to the idea of PvP as it will be wayyy more balanced.

@The Democratic-Republican point, this is quite a good example and does show what you mean, however please do not discuss politics, religion, sex etc in the main chat, as these are the primary causes of flame wars, heated arguments and a general bad feel to a forum.

Thanks, Shadow.

I think PVP will be imbalanced as well... not in case like now, that new players get imba enemies in DG.
But there will be a two-class society, the ones who are willing to pay for this game and the ones who are not willing or can't afford it.
So in DG there will mainly be the players who bought gear for tribute and can afford repairing that gear from tribute they paid with cash. So for a new player who does not know yet if it is worth paying for this game or for an old player who is not willing to pay for it, it is imbalanced again, when you have to fight against a full geared DL.

So it is in my opinion REALLY neccessary, that repairing gear is possible from that tribute you get from capturing territories. Otherwise DG remains empty from new and/or not-paying players.

@Shadow: i still think you do not grasp the significance of the superior traits. They actually won't convey much of an advantage at first because they improve regular traits. If you don't have regular traits, superior traits don't benefit you. Since you can't have many regular traits in the first new era, sup traits won't have much of an impact. That's the beauty of Melior's suggestion...

Please get all facts in order before repeating the same argument over and over again.

Better than full reset but still not happy.

Why?

You tell me the tribute I got from mostly working 12/6 territories as single person will go poof. And I cannot even buy trait points with them. Which I already did this era. Once again power to the PvP Island Bashers that don't care about reearch and have 30 troops and whatever. Once again power to those who spent all their tribute on armour. Great. I am... amazed. You did not get me with that. You talk about gaining 500 tribute easily. That is not so for everyone. Skewed POV?

And superior traits... I remain skeptical. Very, very skeptical, especially regarding my beloved Shattered Victories. I would not want to invest the time necessary to play without them maxed now. If that is taken away a somewhat different problem may arise: simply having no time.

I am... delighted about no reset but again immediately smashed down into a "so all this work has been for nothing as I am told that what i SAVED instead of USED UP will go poof and the VERY PURPOSE I wanted it for is totally out in any case". ... I think you see where you got me going all meh... 2nd poof after change from German server. YAY! YAY! and triple YAY!. just not. Mainly proved that it had happened and will happen again. Philosophy: Saving is for the stupid; the thrifty will get shafted?

Oh yeah, and the tribute problem is in some parges really self-made. Why give away those large amounts to people present at specific time or always the same über-pvpers? Never struck me as really fair and great, regardless what one thinks of contests otherwise.

In fact, the more I think about it... it IS better than a full reset but still only makes continuing play less attractive to me.
