Since the changes to the battle ranking system are soon to be in place I felt it pertinent to start a discussion about the pluses and minuses of your idea.

The announcement:
http://www.dreamlords.com/posts/list/7185.page

I am basing my numbering on how the 5 changes are listed so:

1 Available Gear levels have much bigger impact on PvP level
2 Battle rating will affect your PvP level
3 Battle rating will increase more from wins vs high level opponents
4 Units have more impact, heroes less than before
5 Battle rating will be calculated on the last 7 days only

#1 I think this is at least a move in the right direction to help balance out some of the insanity that is tribute gear, but might not help in the long run.

#2 Good idea to help get rid of people stalking the noob grounds

#3 Also good idea

#4 Meh, insignificant for the most part

#5 This is the only one I see some issues with. First off... last 7 days is a little much. From my own experience it took 25 wins to even get like 15 battle rating... it would seem to be ungodly difficult to obtain the 100 needed for warlords in only 7 days, especially as they get higher and the number of people they have to pvp against decreases. Furthermore, I feel it takes away from the casualness of the game, and turns it into more of a grind. One of the draws i think for a lot of players is that dreamlords currently can be played in a casual fashion. If they are forced to keep grinding pvp just to maintain a rank and maintain that effectiveness bonus, pvp bonuses start to only cater to the hardcore player.

Also I could see it getting to the point where you just feel like you cant get anywhere. As that 7 day mark hits, each day would just end up becoming a struggle to MAINTAIN rank, rather than build it. It makes the pvp less rewarding, which in turn weakens individuals' desire to keep playing, much less spending the money to support the game.

Overall, I'm glad you are at least looking into this problem, and most of the changes are strong. It's only that last one that is going to cause some serious issues and needs to be rethought.

OK I have to say... this was very VERY poorly timed. For most players (especially the older ones) they just watched all their hard work disappear in 1 day. I mean this would basically be like if WoW 4 weeks into release all of a sudden said "oh wait guys, we messed up on our balance some, so we're going to restart all of you at level 1".

I myself didn't lose much in terms of battle rating myself since I didn't pvp much, but the loss of the warlord bonus hit me so hard that I now cannot even set my normal units in pve. If this had been done between eras it would have been fine, but people have built themselves on the old system, and it ruined their setups which are irreversible since you cannot forget research.

The effects are plainly obvious as the possible pvpers went from around 60 when I am on to about 20, and I see almost none of the old timers now.

I have to reiterate, I feel the first 4 changes were good... but the last 1 really ruined the game.

The change might have been a bit harsh on the 4th point so we just adjusted to the last 14 days instead

We'll keep it like that for the remaining time in this era and see how well it works

Thanks David, I think that will help some at least. The 7 days was definitely too short, 14 might be a bit more reasonable. We'll just have to see.

Can we get an example of how the new battle rating works?

Like if at rating 27 and I fight someone at rating 50, how many battle rating points do I go up and how many do they lose?

Is the change immediate or is it done on a daily/nightly basis?

Etc.
