some other primordial piece of gear means just that: it needs a primordial piece of gear. they are the highest level items you can buy in the AoC (altar of cynos) You need to have EVERY level of army gear level researched to use them.

to ibby about Shadow's cynos type: i made it up as he is the only cynos to die and come back so it has nothing to do with the new game.
also, paradox HAS made a fair number of games, or at least jointly made them, and they do have at least a few very successful ones.
